The Colony, TX – In the heart of Warren Buffet’s Grandscape boardwalk is something transpiring night and day. With less than a week until the grand opening, the Lava Cantina staff and construction crews are working around the clock. This New Orleans-themed restaurant and music venue will be one of the biggest between Denton and Dallas. Situated along the Sam Rayburn Toll Road, this is a prime location for those in Lewisville, Plano, McKinney, Frisco and The Colony who want to enjoy music on a weeknight or weekend without the long drive downtown.

With a sizable outdoor stage, retractable roof and multiple viewing levels, the Lava Cantina can house up to 1,800 guests. In addition to the outdoor stage, the Cantina has an indoor stage and upper balcony stage – both complete with full bars and food. The menu is a hash between Creole and Mexican with items like Zydeco Enchiladas and Stevie Ray Prawns. Of course, they will have plenty of drinks including top-shelf tequila and $1,000 shots, yes that is one thousand.

Lava Cantina is designed throughout with reclaimed and aged materials rummaged from Hurricane Katrina and used to create a two-story guitar wall. Virtually all the decor has been artistically created onsite, including hand painted lyric walls in restrooms and rustic bench style seating.

Ian Vaughn, the mastermind behind Lava Cantina has certainly jumped through hoops to bring this two-year vision to reality. With many early construction woes and cost overruns, he turned to his old friends from his time with Raising Cane’s Chicken, MAPP Construction. Vaughn said Mapp agreed to get the project done on time and budget. It certainly appears that Vaughn has overcome the issues that plagued the project from the beginning.

Also, the Lava Cantina has teamed up with Tony Avezzano for national and local booking. Avezzano is certainly no rookie to the restaurant and music scene. He managed Hat Tricks in Lewisville for over a decade and booked some of best music events seen north of Dallas. Along with his experience in food and music, Avezzano adds just a little more lava to the cantina.

Make sure you mark your calendar for all the festivities coming up at the Lava Cantina. May 4th is the Grand Opening with national act Los Lonely Boys from San Angelo, TX.
