Dallas, TX – Music Hall at Fair Park, March 21st – Marking an incredible 35 years since Duran Duran dropped their first major album, Rio, the English synth-pop band is still going strong. Relying heavily on their classics with several newer songs off their most recent album, “Paper Gods” (2015).
Duran Duran was part of the second great “Euro Invasion,” fueled by the new fangled MTV network. Although the faces of the band have changed over the years, their sound, like the 80’s era itself, has a staying power that just won’t fade.
Bands like Duran Duran bring out the best of the best when it comes to people watching. While the outfits have long since been traded in, the dance moves came back as fans left their seats to dance in the aisles. As passionate as the dancing was the fangirling before the show with Tiger Beaters turned Cougar lifers was absolutely entertaining.
In a truly electrifying show, the band made a slow dramatic opening with “Paper Gods,” and then exploded into “The Wild Boys.” Hitting all their original hits, as well as some newer songs and a surprise cover of Grandmaster Flash’s “White Lines.” Duran Duran will continue their North American Tour through June.
