Dallas, Texas – Gas Monkey Live opened up the time machine Saturday night to a throng of old school Dallas rockers. For those who remember venues like Dallas City Limits, The Basement, The Vampire Lounge, On the Rocks, and radio station Z Rock from the late 80s and early 90s, you’re sure to remember Solinger.
Front man Johnny Solinger was back with the boys celebrating a Texas-style jam session while mixing it up with several of the members from over the years. The show started in a very casual form with Solinger asking fans to consider adopting a pet from Paws in The City.
The show was slated as a band reunion and was a homecoming for many of the fans who showed up to relive the hair band years. Johnny Solinger left the band in the early 2000’s to join Skid Row and toured the world. Seeing all the boys back on stage was a true Dallas treat for many friends and fans of the band.
We spoke with Lee Russell, manager of production at Gas Monkey Live, who said he had been eager to put something together with Johnny Solinger for quite some time. When his good friend Joey C. Jones of Shock Tu said they were putting their band back together and Solinger came calling about a Solinger Redux, it was rock and roll heaven. Gas Monkey Live has been doing free shows since its beginning; however, this one was special to Russell who has worked with both artists back in the day.
