Arlington, TX – Wade Sundell, winner of the 2014 and 2015 Saddle Bronc Championships, defended his title by winning the 2016 Saddle Bronc Championship at the RFD-TV’s The American rodeo Sunday at AT&T Stadium, making him a triple crown winner. Sundell pocketed $1.1 million dollars of prize money from RFD-TV. A life changing event for Sundell, who was giddy and almost speechless, finding it difficult to explain just how happy he felt after winning the million plus dollars following two good rides, lasting a total of 16 seconds. Asked in the press conference what would he say to upcoming saddle bronc kiddos making their way through the ranks, he said “Just never quit. You keep on keeping on and good things will happen for you”.
Seven other champions were crowned on a day that saw some great work put on by hard working cowboys. These winners each received checks for $100,000 dollars, custom made saddles, belt buckles, and shot guns, among other prizes.
Bareback Bronc Champion with a score of 88.50 winning by .25 was Tanner Aus.
Barrel Racing Champion was Sarah Rose McDonald by .17 hundreds of a second.
Steer Wrestling Champion by almost 3 full seconds was Ty Erickson.
Team Roping Champion was BeGay/O’brien Cooper.
Tie-Down Roping Champion was Hunter Herrin.
Bull Riding Champion Joao Ricardo Vieira with the only successful ride in the final round and was eligible for a re-ride but decided to stick with his score of 81.75.

Congratulations to these cowboys for all the hard work they put in every day to be the best they can be in their respective events. It was a spectacular end to a great weekend of rodeo at AT&T Stadium.
