The Killdares Rock Levitt Pavilion
Arlington, TX – We were able to catch up with The Killdares last week at the Levitt Pavilion in Arlington. The Killdares, a Dallas-based national act, have been entertaining fans of Celtic music with a rock slant for many years in DFW and abroad. They’ve entertained thousands of fans as regulars at the State Fair of Texas. This year will be their 16th year entertaining fairgoers.
Check out our interview with the band before their performance at the Levitt Pavilion:
Founded in 1996 by Tim Smith, the band consists of Smith, Roberta Rast, Matt Willis, Gary Thorne, and Mike Urness. The Killdares released their new LP “Steal The Sky” in 2014 with an edge of modern day music sound while keeping the traditional Celtic vibe.
The Killdares performance Friday night at the Levitt Pavilion had fans of all ages showing up 2 hours early to seize a spot on the plush lawn. Then, on a beautiful evening under the Texas stars, The Killdares had the crowd dancing and clapping in true Celtic fashion. Unlike many other musical events, the dueling violin and bagpipes mesmerized the crowd. There are no props or an elaborate stage setup – just great rhythm and entertaining, upbeat music.
The Killdares will be celebrating their 16th consecutive year of shows at The State Fair of Texas. They will be performing on the Dr Pepper stage the first 8 days of the fair (September 25th – October 2nd) with shows at 2:30, 3:30, 4:30, 5:30 & 6:30.
